How to get to Barcelona?

Airport to City Center
Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat Airport, also known as simply the Barcelona Airport, is the main international gateway to Barcelona, about 12 km (7.5 miles) southwest of Barcelona city centre. The city centre can be reached quickly and comfortably either by public transport, shuttle bus or taxi.
Train from Airport
RENFE is the Spanish train company and its station at the airport is located 200 meters from Terminal 2 building (T2B). Once you are at T2B, take the escalators towards departure and follow the RENFE signs. Trains depart every 30 minutes and they stop at Sants Estació and Passeig de Gràcia, from where you can transfer to the metro or city buses. You can find more information here.
Shuttle bus from Airport
There are several different transfer buses going to and from Barcelona Airport. The Aerobus is the Barcelona Airport express shuttle bus that takes you to and from the airport and the city centre. The main bus stops in Barcelona city centre are at Plaça de Catalunya and Plaça España.

At Barcelona Airport there are stops outside each of the terminals. The A1 stops outside Terminal 1 every 5–10 minutes and the A2 stops outside Terminal 2 every 10–20 minutes.
  • A single ticket costs €5.90 whereas the return ticket (that is valid for 90 days) costs €10.20.
  • It takes about 25 minutes from Barcelona Airport to Plaça España and approximately 35 minutes to Plaça de Catalunya, depending on traffic conditions.
  • You can purchase tickets online or on site from automatic vending machines, bus stop staff or on board the bus. You can either pay with credit card or cash. You can buy your tickets online here.

Taxi from Airport
You should keep in mind that you must head to the railed taxi waiting area at the front of the taxi line where you will find a staff member in a high visibility jacket. This way, they will direct you to a taxi that is allocated to you.
Taxi fares depend on the day and hour of the day, but the average price is around €25 - €45. The standard Barcelona taxis are black with yellow sides. Apart from airport taxis, there is also Uber, Cabify, and Free Now. Additionally, there may be more potential charges and supplements, so we advise you to check here.
